Sayeeda Rashid, Assistant Vice President for Institutional Equity and Access at Haverford College, will join Dr. Fariha Khan's "South Asians in the US" course.
Sayeeda Rashid
Sayeeda Rashid (they/them) is a social justice advocate, community organizer, and queer, non-binary, Muslim, Bangladeshi immigrant. As the Assistant Vice President for Institutional Equity and Access, they develop and lead initiatives, programming, and resources that advance the College's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, access, and antiracism, and enhance student and employee development and campus climate. They joined Haverford College in January 2022 as the Director of the Center for Gender Resources and Sexual Education (GRASE).
They come with more than 10 years of experience across social services, municipal government, and grassroots coalitions working to create equitable change that centers anti-oppression, anti-racism, and collective resilience. Formerly positions included serving as a Coordinator at the Philadelphia Mayor's Office of LGBT Affairs developing municipal policies, city-wide initiatives, and programs affecting LGBTQ+ communities, and Resource Director at the Pennsylvania Immigration and Citizenship Coalition leading movement-oriented fundraising and capacity building strategy to advance immigrant rights across the state.
Sayeeda earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Mount Holyoke College, and a Master of Social Work and a Master of Science in Nonprofit Leadership from University of Pennsylvania.
