Event
Wednesday Night with ASAM Alumni: Sarah Lee, and Duong Ly.
Moderator: Minola Lee
Sarah Lee is a 3rd year Ph.D. student at Vanderbilt University in the Learning, Teaching, and Diversity program. Sarah studies how formal and informal learning environments can broaden participation in science. Before Vanderbilt, Sarah was the Research and Advisory Associate at a children’s museum in the San Francisco Bay Area. She contributed to publications on STEM, the benefits of play, and technology in early childhood. She also worked on state and national grant funded projects, such as developing resources for librarians based on school readiness research. Sarah also served on the board of directors for Next Generation Scholars, a non-profit college access program for low-income students of color. After earning her B.A. in Linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania, Sarah is now excited to return to academia and combine her passions for language, education, and equity. She also recently published a bilingual, Korean-English children's book in collaboration with Wildberry Ink, an independent publisher that aims to bring awareness of societal inequities to help develop socially-conscious minds.

This Spring 2022 semester commemorates 25 years of Asian American Studies at Penn. Join us every Wednesday evening to learn about our history through the personal experiences of our ASAM alums in our new speaker series, Wednesday Nights with ASAM Alumni. Covering a different period each week, we will kick off the chronological series in January 2022 with a close-up look back at Penn and Asian American life in 1996. The series will culminate in May 2022 with a look ahead at 2023. These informal conversations among ASAM friends will be led by the ASAM UAB and will not only be informative but will offer lively memories and shared experiences of undergraduate and graduate life firsthand. A new part of history and new alums each week!
