Abstract: The Woori Center is a grassroots nonprofit organization that works with the Korean and Asian community in Philadelphia. Community organizing, youth leadership programming, and civic engagement work are several of the many initiatives the Woori Center spearheads to empower the Pennsylvania Asian American community. As a civic engagement intern, Jennifer actively engaged with voter registration work, phonebanking, and creating programming for the youth. Her project explores the importance of political mobilization of Asians and investigates how civic engagement can create a collective civic conscience.

Bio: A second-generation Korean American, Jennifer is a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences studying Sociology with minors in Nutrition Science, Asian American Studies, and Chemistry. She is interested in building community through civic engagement work and advocacy. On campus, she is actively involved with the Asian American Studies Undergraduate Advisory Board, Penn's Medical Emergency Response Team, and the Penn Figure Skating Club.
