Wednesday Night with ASAM Alumni: Mary He, Wharton'09, and Brian Singh, CAS'10

Moderator: Angela Shen

This Spring 2022 semester commemorates 25 years of Asian American Studies at Penn. Join us every Wednesday evening to learn about our history through the personal experiences of our ASAM alums in our new speaker series, Wednesday Nights with ASAM Alumni.  Covering a different period each week, we will kick off the chronological series in January 2022 with a close-up look back at Penn and Asian American life in 1996.  The series will culminate in May 2022 with a look ahead at 2023.  These informal conversations among ASAM friends will be led by the ASAM UAB and will not only be informative but will offer lively memories and shared experiences of undergraduate and graduate life firsthand.  A new part of history and new alums each week!

Mary He (W ‘09) is an alum of the Asian American Studies Program and ASAM UAB. While at Penn, she also served as a Chair of Asian Pacific American Heritage Week and participated in various APA organizations on campus. Mary currently lives in New York City and works at J.P. Morgan. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with loved ones, traveling, enjoying wine, skiing, hiking, or preferably a combination of all of the above!

Brian is an alum of the Asian American Studies Work Study Program and ASAM UAB. While at Penn, Brian majored in Economics and South Asia Studies with a minor in Consumer Psychology and led the Exploration Committee for Penn International Business Volunteers. Since graduation, Brian has pursued a career in mobile product management with a recent focus on live streaming and online dating including working with 4 of the top 10 largest US Dating Apps by Downloads in 2021 (e.g. Bumble, Meetme, Badoo, and Tagged).
