• PAACH Award Recipients Announced

    Recipients of the PAACH Awards were announced Friday, May 2, 2014, at the End of the Year Awards Dinner, which was hosted by The Pan-Asian American Community House and the Asian American Studies Program. Christian Perucho, rising sophomore and new member of ASAM's Undergraduate Advisory Board, was awarded the Rising Leader Award, awarded to freshmen or sophomore who display extraordinary potential to be a leader at the University of Pennsylvania. The full list of this year's recipients is below:

  • Arts and Sciences Apppoints Dr. David L. Eng to Richard L. Fisher Professor of English

    David L. Eng has been appointed Richard L. Fisher Professor of English. His areas of specialization include American literature, Asian American studies, Asian diaspora, psychoanalysis, critical race theory, queer studies, gender studies, and visual culture.  Eng also teaches in the School’s programs in comparative literature and literary theory and in Asian American studies. 

  • Janan Dave and Salina Lee win Dr. Rosane Rocher Prize for Best Undergraduate Essay in Asian American Studies

    Seniors Janan Dave and Salina Lee win the Dr. Rosane Rocher Prize for Best Undergraduate Essay in Asian American Studies.

  • Dr. Fariha Khan wins the 2013 School of Arts and Sciences Staff Incentive Award

    Faculty member and Associate Director of the Asian American Studies Program Dr. Fariha Khan was awarded the 2013 School of Arts and Sciences Staff Incentive Award for her contributions to the School of Arts and Sciences.

    The award highlights members who best represent the School's objectives for excellent performance and recognizes Dr. Khan's hard work, accomplishments, and dedication - above and beyond her job description.

    The SAS community extends gratitude to Dr. Khan for a job well done and for the efforts done to carry out the School's missions of research and teaching.

  • Asian American Studies Program Celebrates 15 years

    The 2012 - 2013 academic year marked the 15th anniversary of the Asian American Studies Program at Penn.  In March 2013 alumni and current students celebrated the foundations and future of the Program at a banquet at the Inn at Penn.  A video featuring key ASAM leaders and an Anniversary Publication commemorated the event.
