Penn Museum invites to the Penn Student Making Workshop:The Healing Cup: Chai Spice Blends with Dr.Fariha I. Khan. Co-Director of Asian American Studies
Time: 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
As the weather cools, few things are more satisfying than sipping a steaming cup of masala chai (spiced tea). Warming spices such as ginger and cardamom, long used in ayurvedic medicine, are combined with black tea, milk, and sweetener to create a healing cup whose popularity has spread far beyond its origin in India.
Homemade masala chai is very different from the chai latte with pumpkin spice cold foam that you may be ordering from your local Siren-based coffee chain this fall. Come learn more about masala chai from Penn Professor Dr. Fariha Khan, sample different versions, and make custom blends of spices and tea to brew at home.
