Mia Leyland: Winner of the 2015 Dr. Rosane Rocher Prize for Best Undergraduate Essay in Asian American Studies

Congratulations to Mia Leyland, winner of the 2015 Dr. Rosane Rocher Prize for Best Undergraduate Essay in Asian American Studies!

Mia Leyland is a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences studying Communications and East Asian Area Studies. Her interest in the area of Asian American identity stems from her own experience as a multiracial Japanese American. Although born in Japan, she moved to Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania at a young age, but continued to visit family in Japan over the summer. She is currently an active member of the Penn Japan Student Association, where she continues to explore her Japanese American identity.
