About the ASAM UAB:

The University of Pennsylvania’s Asian American Studies Undergraduate Advisory Board (ASAM UAB) is a group of undergraduate students advocating for the advancement of Asian American and Pacific Islander studies and ethnic studies. We support the development of Asian American and Pacific Islander studies as an established academic discipline and program, demand university support through course offerings, faculty hiring, and programming, and encourage representation within higher education. We aim to cultivate a social and educational community around the study of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities and experiences through collaboration with like-minded organizations and community-based events. These goals undergird our efforts in promoting courses, resources, opportunities, and faculty diversity in collaboration with the academic program and other student groups, both on campus and around the country. At the basis of our work, we value social justice, equity, critical pedagogy, self-determination, and diversity.

Dr. Khan, ASAM's Associate Director, and a current member of the ASAM UAB will reach out to schedule meetings to discuss your interest in joining the UAB shortly after your form is submitted.

These meetings will most likely occur by Friday, March 26, 2021. These meetings are informal and just to learn more about interested applicants. Decisions will be sent by Monday, March 29, 2021.
