Attached here are two readings that we will discuss at the meeting. The first is the introduction essay to the journal Verge, edited by Tina Chen at Penn State. The essay nicely captures the spirit of bringing together Asian Studies and Asian American Studies. The second essay is a literary analysis by Colleen Lye (Berkeley) examining the impact of the rhetoric of "the rise of Asia" on Asian America with a rigorous economic-materialist reading of Ed Park's Personal Days.
