Grace Kao is Professor of Sociology, Education, and Asian American Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. She is an Research Associate of the Population Studies Center and a Faculty Affiliate of the Center for East Asia Studies. She formerly served as Director of the Asian American Studies Program, and currently serves on its steering committee. She received her Ph.D. and M.A. in Sociology from The University of Chicago and her B.A. in Sociology and Oriental Languages (Chinese) from The University of California, Berkeley. Her research focuses on race, ethnic, and immigrant differences in educational outcomes among youth.
