Dr. Kropp teaches and studies 20th-century U.S. history, with special interests in culture, race, public memory, and the West. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego and a B.A. from Bryn Mawr College. She is completing a book based on her dissertation, \"\'All Our Yesterdays\': The Spanish Fantasy Past and the Politics of Public Memory in Southern California, 1884-1939.\" Her new projects include the evolution of national and regional identities in elementary school classrooms and a history of camping.
